Pulwama, Oct 16 (KNO): Even after ten years, a vital bridge on Romshi rivulet in Rohmoo village in Rajpora constituency of South Kashmir's Pulwama district is awaiting completion, due to which locals are suffering.
Locals from Rohmoo area told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that this bridge was washed out during 2014 floods and since then people of this area have been facing hardships as authorities have failed to complete this bridge since then.
They said that a bailey bridge was installed in the area but that isn't enough to manage the rush on the vital route.
Nazir Ahmad, a local resident said that this bridge connects Pulwama district with neighbouring Budgam district and is of vital importance but most of the time the work on the bridge remains on halt due to which it is incomplete for the last 10 years now.
He said that many bridges which were approved after 2014 have been completed but this bridge has been left incomplete due to unknown reasons
Lateef Ahmad Khanday another local resident said that this bridge is funded by the World Bank and was taken up by JKPCC nine years back and work was started accordingly, however, authorities are yet to complete it due to which locals continue to face difficulties.
He said that after the intervention of DC Pulwama Dr Basharat Qayoom, a good progress on the bridge was made and around 95 percent of the work has been completed but due to unknown reasons work has been put in halt again.
Locals said that they are thankful to DC Pulwama for his intervention but it needs a final touch now.
They said that work on the bridge should be resumed as soon as possible and it should be completed at an earliest.
They once again requested concerned authorities, especially Deputy Commissioner to look into the matter and complete this project at an earliest so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.
Pertinently the bridge at Rohmoo is being constructed at an estimated cost of 21.5 crore.
Meanwhile an official of R&B said that work will resume and bridge will be completed very soon—(KNO)
